KFC’s Double Down? Seriously? Really?

By Jesse | August 26, 2009

Just when I thought I couldn’t be more shocked by a new entry into the fast food machine, KFC does just that. As I heard a few nights back on Conan, KFC is testing a new sandwich.

This sandwich, called the “Double Down” starts out with bacon. Now add a slice of swiss cheese. Then another slice of pepper jack. And of course, don’t forget about the Colonel’s special sauce. Cram all of that between two pieces of fried chicken, and you’ve got the most unhealthy sandwich ever created. Nutrition and calorie information are not available, but I’ve seen estimates out there as high as 1,200 calories.

KFC-Double-Down

This is kind of shock to me, since KFC launched Grilled Chicken just a few months back to healthy up their menu. But now they go ahead and put this thing in the market. I weep for America’s arteries.

Will Fast Food Reviewed be picking up one of these bad boys? Not any time soon, since they are available only in Rhode Island and Nebraska.

Also, check out an interesting article from the AV Club here calling the Double Down the Reichstag fire of health care reform. Pretty good stuff.
